Capturing Magic at The Byirs: A Stunning New North East Wedding Venue
Nestled in rolling countryside and surrounded by lush greenery, The Byirs is quickly becoming a dream location for couples. A recently opened venue, it blends classic architecture with modern elegance—perfect for a beautiful intimate wedding with your nearest and dearest. From its elegantly draped ceremony room to its inviting outdoor areas, The Byirs is where timeless romance meets fresh style.
On Monday this week, a bunch of talented creatives brought together by the fabulous Lisa at Mindenwood Floral Design created some magic at The Byirs. Phoebe Lenderyou Photography documenting the magic through photo and Ryan Edwards Films through video, they managed to showcase all this venue had to offer.
The Venue: A Perfect Backdrop for Romantic Photography
The Byirs is an absolute gem, and stepping onto the property feels like entering a different world. The venue features soft
natural lighting, modern elegance as well as rustic beauty and luxurious details. The combination of contemporary amenities with timeless touches gives photographers a versatile canvas that adapts beautifully to any wedding theme. And gives couples lots of flavours for their wedding celebration. For the styled shoot, Lisa decided to highlight the venue’s charm by opting for a mix of modern elegance and rustic romance in our styling choices.
The Reception Space: Intimate and Inviting
In the reception space, we leaned into the venue’s modern features and beautiful natural light. Lisa set up the table with her gorgeous florals and used items from NotesIn bloom Stationary, Crosby Event Hire and Beaties Events to bring her vision to light. Faye and Adam from Welcome to the Wood Life were the perfect model couple, looking absolutely breathtaking. Faye wore a dress from Alice Elizabeth Bridal paired with Jewellery from both Juni Jewellery and The Bobby Pin, and Adam wore
a gorgeous suit from Woven Durham . Claire Alexandra was on Hair and Makeup duties and she did not disappoint!
Faye was an absolute picture. We also showcased an absolutely fabulous cake made by Cocobelle wedding cakes in this indoor space because the lighting was to die for. The mix of textures created an inviting
atmosphere that felt both luxurious and relaxed. Every detail at The Byirs seems to have beendesigned with photography in mind,as the room’s warmth and layout allowed us to capture
intimate,storytelling shots of thecouple.
Editorial Flash Photos at the Bar: Bold, Dramatic, and Stylish
The indoor bar at The Byirs provided an ideal setting for capturing some chic, editorial-style flash photos. This bar space, with its deep leather bar stools, green tiles, and softly glowing pendant lights, created an upscale, intimate ambiance that lent itself perfectly to a more modern, high-fashion approach.
We decided to use direct flash for these shots, giving them a bold, dramatic edge. The contrast between the green tiles and the sudden pop of flash added an editorial flair, perfect for creating magazine-worthy images. We posed the bride and groom in stylish stances, leaning against the bar and holding champagne glasses to evoke a sense of timeless glamor. These photos captured an effortlessly stylish vibe that felt like a nod to iconic fashion photography, blending romance with a touch of edginess
Retro Vibes with the Photo Booth: Fun, Nostalgia, and Personality
Just steps away from the bar, We set up vintage-inspired photo booth from Essential Booth UK that brings an element of fun and nostalgia to the event. We wanted to showcase this space in a way that felt playful and authentically retro. Set against a vintage backdrop with checkered flooring, the booth gave off a ‘70s vibe, ideal for creating relaxed, memorable snapshot
A Stunning Finale: Dress Change and Dreamy Ceremony Spaces with Reservoir Views
To end our styled shoot, we brought in a final outfit change to highlight the versatility of The Byirs‘ ceremony spaces
, both indoors and outdoors. The bride swapped her elegant gown for a show-stopping finale dress. The outdoor ceremony s
pace, with sweeping views of the beautiful Derwent Reservoir, was a perfect backdrop for soft, romantic shots as the sun began to dip, casting a gentle glow over the landscape.
Indoors, we moved to The Byirs‘ rustic indoor ceremony area, where wooden beams and soft natural light gave the setting an intimate, timeless ambiance. Capturing the bride and groom in this cozy space brought a feeling of warmth and closeness, contrasting beautifully with the open-air shots from the reservoir view.
Conclusion: The Byirs Offers It All
From modern, stylish lighting and beautifully crafted outdoor areas to rustic indoor ceremony spaces and an editorial-style bar perfect for bold fashion photography, The Byirs offers it all. This venue blends the best of timeless romance with contemporary elegance, creating the perfect setting for any wedding vision. Whether you’re a couple looking for an idyllic backdrop or a photographer in search of versatile, inspiring spaces, The Byirs is a venue that transforms every moment into a beautiful memory.
